Ryan Kilpatrick, AICP EDFP is a seasoned economic developer, systems and design thinker, and regional sustainability expert with over 15 years of experience working in leadership positions within non-profit, private sector, and public sector organizations. He is the Founding Director of Housing Next, a connector, collaborator, and cross-pollinator, proficient in the practice of human-centered design for positive social impact, and an expert in strategic planning, group facilitation, problem-solving, design thinking, and urban development. Ryan's background in land use law, economic development, public-private financing, and best practices in placemaking has equipped him with the expertise needed to manage complex initiatives, work with diverse groups, and negotiate the use of multiple public and private financing mechanisms. His recent work has been focused on promoting urban revitalization through real estate development, project financing, placemaking, affordable housing, and talent attraction.

Ryan obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Development from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Arts degree in Design from Kendall College of Art and Design at Ferris State University. The latter was a program equivalent to an MBA in Design and focused on the application of the design process to business, social innovation, product development, and process design. Ryan has expanded his capacity for problem-solving, systems level evaluation and process development, leadership, and strategic planning as a result of the degree.
