Full stack developer with a concentration on the back-end node.js REST API.--Been learning a fair amount about GIS and PostGIS in particular and how PostGIS, node.js, and say, leaflet, and that can take care of all but the most demanding GIS web apps.--Worked a bit with Turf.js and learning that you can do quite a bit in the client and you don't need PostGIS or node.js at all, depending on how big the data set it and if mobile matters.--I don't get to do much with 3D but our department does and occasionally I get to help with scripts to help with the automation of drawing features . . . which means I get to do some trigonometry. SOH CAH TOA.--Surprized at how much survey work is still done on paper . . . and how expensive the "solutions" to alleviate that problem out in the field can be. Often, even today, it's cheaper to make an in-house, custom app that it is to pick up some other solution and spend the time to make it work for a particular situation. So I've done that for a few projects and am excited for what Service Workers can do for an upcoming "offline mode".

- Implement new "Production Schedule" with using PHP, MySQL, and CakePHP application framework to help streamline the process for keeping track of order information on each piece as it moves from through the various areas of production (printing, enhancement, framing, shipping)* Add an inventory system to the Production Schedule to create a better way of keeping track of what paintings are in each gallery as well as some quick stats like how many total prints are for sale and how many sold during a particular quarter. Also, Inventory report that is specifically for the IRS and helps tremendously with tracking tax liability (and is far more accurate than the old way).* Add the PoS (Point of Sale) system (using the MEAN stack, Mongo, express/node.js, Angular, nginx) that the sales people use for taking orders. We went from faxes of orders that were difficult to read and only ever seen by the office manager to a system that the owners of the company check every day to see what sold, by who and for how much . . . something they would have to wait weeks to see in the past.* Set up a backup system (Linux based BackupPC on an old PC with a new hard drive as a cost saver) to backup several machines that have important data. Later replace that with a Synology "server" a pc for backing that up and then CrashPlanPro to back that up.
