In December 2014, I had this lightbulb moment – you know the kind of idea that makes you go, “AHA!”

With my love of podcasting, I wanted to bring together great people who also enjoy podcasting. I mean, let’s establish this amazing community where we all support one another and there’s time to teach and learn. And the Mid-Atlantic Podcast Conference (MAPCON) was born.

The inaugural event was in September 2015 and blew me away. The community exploded through live in-person and virtual conferences, boasting over 1,200 members in our private membership group in less than six months. I think I’m onto something here!

Hosting podcast conferences for people to learn more about the business of podcasting using creativity and community building is a journey of love for me. Each week I have a guest podcaster co-host with me where we cover a topic on a live stream show. I have been running it for four years. On April 2, 2014, I left the family business to strike out on my own. One month later, I was on a flight to Disney World to run a 5k race with a friend when inspiration struck about starting my own podcast. When the plane landed, I registered the domain name, twitter handle, and Facebook page before we even got to the rental car. Two weeks later, I released the first episode of my show, The Dreamers Podcast.

Since founding my podcast, it has traveled an evolutionary path. What started as The Dreamers Podcast morphed into Business With Joe Pardo, back to The Dreamer Podcast, and finally to the Joe Pardo Show. In 2017, my show was the 12th Annual Podcast Awards winner in the Business Category. This is THE show where business meets life.

I talk about integrating business in your life and finding that it's not even about a work-life balance - it's about making business easier for us to go and enjoy life. Incredible business owners and entrepreneurs from around the world are brought together to discuss their journey, their lessons, and their lifestyle.

One of my most fulfilling career positions was working as Web Director and Business Coach & Mentor helping at-risk youth develop their personal and professional skills. I love helping people and this was an amazing opportunity to support youth to rise above their circumstances. Who wouldn’t love that, right?!

At-risk youth in one of the country’s most dangerous neighborhoods have internships, one of which was working in the web department, where they learned to build websites for businesses and entrepreneurs. This program helps foster entrepreneurship in them, teaching them skills that benefit them for life and changing the direction of their paths.

I spent my days geeking out on managing and discovering how to create relationships between PCs, Macs, Smart Phones, Copiers, Scanners, Windows Server 2003/8, Redhat, Solaris, Wordpress, CMS, CRM, Apache, MySQL, Networking, Wordpress, XOOPS and more.
