Jeff McAffer

Jeff McAffer is a well-respected and accomplished figure in the technology industry. He has extensive experience in open source software, including four years running the Open Source Programs Office at Microsoft. McAffer was instrumental in guiding Microsoft through a transformative period as the company embraced open source and became a leader in the movement. Prior to that, he was a founder and architect of the Eclipse Tooling and Runtime efforts, playing a key role in building the Eclipse community and ecosystem. McAffer has also worked in a variety of domains, including integrated development environments, distributed and massively parallel systems, and virtual machine design. He holds a PhD in Meta-level Architectures from the University of Tokyo. Currently, McAffer is the Senior Director of Product at GitHub where he focuses on enabling organizations to engage with open source at scale.
