Richard Thayer is a highly experienced Drug and Alcohol Counselor and Owner of Portland Interventions. He has gained intimate knowledge and a personal understanding of the disease of addiction/alcoholism as he has witnessed his entire family suffer and pass away from it. Despite these challenges, he has become a skilled Counselor to help those struggling with addiction and their families.

Richard completed his studies in Social and Behavioral Science at Linfield College and earned an AAOT Degree in General Studies at Lane Community College. He has worked in various organizations such as A New Freedom, Willamette Family Treatment, Columbia Community Mental Health at Astoria DHS CW, Pacific Alcohol and Drug Counseling, and Serenity Lane as an Admissions Specialist. His experience in these organizations has helped him hone his counseling skills that he now uses to improve the lives of those struggling with addiction.
