Kathryn Almar is a former attorney for a managed care organization, with a particular expertise in Medicaid.  She regularly provides advice on a wide range of regulatory matters affecting managed care companies, including a variety of federal and state regulatory compliance matters, including licensing and contractual issues.  She reviews and drafts various types of contracts for healthcare entities, including provider participation agreements and pharmaceutical agreements.  She also advises on HIPAA privacy and security matters.
Prior to joining Coventry Health Care Inc., Ms. Almar was an associate at an international law firm, where her focus, in addition to managed care, was on counseling a variety of health care entities on regulatory and compliance issues, including Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse matters related to the federal False Claims Act, the federal healthcare Anti-Kickback Statute, and the physician self-referral law.  She also has experience in corporate practice, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate compliance and securities transactions.
