Emily Tsiang is a versatile and accomplished designer, urbanist, and educator with extensive experience in the private and public sector. She holds a BA in Economics & East Asian Studies from UCLA and an MBA in Organizational Strategy & Design from the University of Michigan. She also studied at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the University of Cambridge. Emily is a well-regarded professor and design researcher, currently serving as an Associate Professor at New York University Shanghai and a former Design Researcher at Stanford University. She is also a former Life Design Fellow & Lecturer at Stanford University and Adjunct Faculty at Stanford's Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school). Prior to her career in education, Emily held senior roles in various industries, where she honed her skills in organizational strategy, talent management, product design, and global acquisition integration. Emily is an excellent facilitator who has led design workshops at Autodesk, Airbnb, and General Assembly, and has been featured at SXSW. She co-founded CULTURE LABx, which aims to advance the dialogue around startup culture and published the Culture Code field guide. Emily is also exploring design's role in behavioral health, co-authoring the book Sleep Wise and launching Wake Up San Francisco, a meditation circle in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.
