Jaap Veldhuizen

Jaap Veldhuizen is an experienced ENT surgeon with a career spanning over three decades. He commenced his profession in 1989 and has been practicing at various hospitals, specializing in Rhinoplasty, Rhinology, Taste and Smell disorders, along with general ENT surgeries.

Following his initial years, Jaap Veldhuizen served as an ENT surgeon at Westfries Gasthuis Hoorn during the period of 1990-2000. Subsequently, from 2000 to 2020, he contributed his expertise at Spaarne Gasthuis in Haarlem-Hoofddorp.

Apart from his clinical endeavors, Jaap Veldhuizen has been actively involved in the training and mentorship of ENT residents starting from 2004. Furthermore, he engaged in various organizational roles such as being a member of the Dutch Otolaryngology Society where he served as a librarian between 2001-2007. Additionally, he chaired the ENT-Electronic Patient Files committee from 2002-2008.

His professional journey also includes significant contributions to the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Since 2008, Jaap Veldhuizen has been a vital member of the ICT-team at Spaarne Gasthuis. His responsibilities encompass liaison between the medical staff and the ICT team, training initiatives, and specializing in Epic systems and MIO.

Jaap Veldhuizen pursued his medical education at the University of Groningen, where he obtained the title of drs. He holds membership in various medical associations and has held positions such as KNO-arts and Epic-specialist at Spaarne Gasthuis, Medical Manager Projectteam EPD at Kennemer Gasthuis Haarlem, and Librarian at the Board of the Dutch Otorhinolaryngology Society.
