Sebastián Fernández-Medrano is a principal at Samaipata, where he focuses his attention on investing in digital platforms with network effects at the Seed stage across Southern Europe, France, UK and Germany. He has a passion for backing mission-driven entrepreneurs whose ultimate aim is to build the next European unicorn. Sebastián is a highly educated individual who studied a Double Bachelor in Law & Political Science at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, followed by additional studies in Politics & International Relations and International Law & Economics, thanks to scholarships in the UK and Brazil.

Sebastián started his career as an intern in various prestigious organizations, such as the European Commission, EY and Garrigues, where he had the opportunity to work on litigation and arbitration, tax and human capital. After these experiences, he joined Samaipata as an Analyst in 2016, before being promoted to Associate and Senior Associate.

Moreover, Sebastián has served as a mentor at Techstars, an international startup accelerator, where he has shared his knowledge and expertise with promising entrepreneurs.

As a Principal at Samaipata, Sebastián is responsible for developing investment strategies for early-stage startups and helping entrepreneurs grow their businesses, leveraging his international background and extensive financial and legal training.
