Kate Kigongo

Kate Kigongo is a dedicated professional with over thirteen years of experience in community-oriented design and problem-solving, adept at implementing innovative and strategic solutions to real-world issues.

Currently serving as a Senior Innovation Analyst at the City of West Hollywood, Kate leads the implementation of smart city and digital city hall initiatives, focusing on developing top-tier community services through training, consulting, and strategic planning programs.

With a background in Urban and Regional Planning and Geography and History, Kate brings a unique perspective to her work, translating community needs to urban design professionals and fostering creative solutions within her teams.

Kate has been actively involved in various high-profile events and conferences, including speaking engagements at the American Planning Association's National Conference, SXSW, SXSWEco, and collaborations with organizations like General Assembly, the Alliance for Innovation, and Art Center College of Design.

Prior to her current role, Kate held positions as an Innovation Analyst and has demonstrated her skills as a Program Manager at the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI) and as a Program Officer and Assistant at the Low Income Investment Fund.

Her educational background includes a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, a Bachelor's degree in Geography and History from the University of California, Los Angeles, and participation in the Quarter in Washington Program at the Center for American Politics and Public Policy.
