Renee DiResta is an accomplished technologist, researcher, and writer who specializes in understanding how information systems behave and how narratives spread. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Political Science from Stony Brook University. DiResta currently studies at Stanford Internet Observatory, where she explores ways to identify and combat misinformation and analytical manipulation in online environments.

Aside from her academic credentials, DiResta has extensive experience in business, finance, and venture capital. Before joining the Stanford Internet Observatory, she worked as Director of Marketing at Haven, Inc, a maritime insurance start-up. Earlier in her career, DiResta worked in Quantitative Finance and also co-founded a software company that creates visualization tools used to build more reliable software.

Throughout her career, DiResta has become an influential voice within the technology industry, where her work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Atlantic, among other geopolitical and technology publications. She has also testified before the United States Senate Intelligence Committee and contributed her expertise to public policy discussions on issues such as cybersecurity, disinformation campaigns, and election integrity.
