Brett Brune is an accomplished editor and journalist with extensive experience in various media outlets. Brune is currently serving as the Editor in Chief of Smart Manufacturing magazine at the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), where he oversees the publication's editorial content. Before joining SME, Brune worked as the VP of Editorial and Editor in Chief of SmartGridToday.com at Modern Markets Intelligence, Inc. (MMI).

Brune started his career in journalism as a correspondent for The Washington Post. He later worked as a business reporter covering healthcare and biotech at the Houston Chronicle and as a staff editor at The New York Times, where he was responsible for media criticism. He also served as a senior copy editor at the Los Angeles Times and a money section reporter and copy editor at USA TODAY.
