Simrat Roopra is an accomplished legal professional and advocate for human rights. She completed her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Melbourne after summa cum laude graduation with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from New York University Abu Dhabi. Simrat has extensive professional experience that includes her current position as an Admin Coordinator at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, where she provides crucial support to assist with the delivery of essential services to refugees and asylum seekers. She has also previously been an Editor at Law in Colour, where she actively sought to promote the visibility of the experiences and perspectives of Indigenous people and people of color in the legal profession. Simrat's skills in research, analysis, and critical thinking have been honed through a diverse range of experiences, including internships at the Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission, the Center for American Progress, and the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office. She has also worked as a Legal Research Assistant at New York University Abu Dhabi and written about foreign policy issues in Gulf Affairs Magazine.
