Yet-Ming Chiang, a well-known figure in the world of advanced materials and energy technology, is one of the most prominent scientists in his field. As a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he focuses on exploring the transformative potential of materials in energy technologies. With more than 300 publications and over 80 U.S. patents, Prof. Chiang's expertise spans various academic areas, including materials science, energy, and battery technology.

Prof. Chiang has made significant contributions to the MIT research laboratory and has co-founded 7 companies, all of which have successfully grown and expanded, providing innovative solutions to some of the most complex challenges facing the industry. Currently, he serves as Chief Scientist at Form Energy, where he's developing long-duration grid storage to assist the smooth output of intermittent renewables. He's also the Chief Scientist at 24M Technologies, an organization working to revolutionize lithium-ion battery design and manufacturing.

Prof. Chiang was inducted into the U.S. National Academy of Engineering in 2009, and his reputation as an expert in materials and energy-related topics is widely recognized. For his valuable contributions to these areas, he has been named a Fellow of several prestigious organizations, including the Electrochemical Society, the Materials Research Society, the American Ceramic Society, and the National Academy of Inventors. He has further helped the industry by serving on numerous government and academic advisory committees.

Prof. Chiang obtained his S.B. and Sc.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Apart from his academic and research engagements, he's also active in promoting technology transfer from basic research.
