Katie Flynn is an accomplished and prolific British author with a career spanning over thirty years. Born in Norwich, England, in 1944, she moved to Liverpool in her early childhood years. She started writing short stories and articles for various British magazines while raising her family at the same time. In 1977, she published her first novel, A Liverpool Lass, which became a success and inspired her to continue her writing career.

Flynn's books are mostly set in Liverpool and explore the lives and struggles of working-class families in nineteenth and twentieth-century England. Her stories are known for their vivid descriptions of daily life, their strong and empowering female characters, and their ability to make the reader feel like they are living in the period in which the story is set. Her books have been translated into several languages and have sold millions of copies.

In addition to her literary career, Flynn has been recognized for her charitable work with organizations such as The Children's Society and The Liverpool Heartbeat Appeal. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by John Moores University in Liverpool, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to literature.
