Advisory board member for HR strategy to help scale the HR function from startup to operations excellence.

Mindful Snacks Inc.

As the first member of the People and Culture team at Mindful Snacks, I was responsible for building the People processes for the growing startup which included implementing HR software (HRIS, ATS, LMS), creating a customer success training & onboarding program, recruiting strategic roles for the leadership team and advising the CEO on various initiatives.

As the VP, HR, my focus was to manage the People and Talent programs for the company as they expanded globally. Part of the challenge was to ensure not only the scaling of people and organizational development, but to ensure that we can engage the culture, the processes and the communication lines across multiple offices as one company. Since 2015, the company has gone through considerable growth at a massive scale and come out successfully as a fast-growth scale-up.

During mid-2015, Nexonia completed its first round of funding. The company focused aggressively on revenue growth and headcount which included an acquisition of ExpenseWatch based in Philadelphia, followed by the acquisition of Tallie based in SF late in the same year. People, culture and product integration was the main focus for Nexonia at this stage for the company.

As the first HR hire at Nexonia, my role entailed building up the HR and Talent process for the company which grew from 40 employees to over 200 during my tenure. My focus was on talent growth, leadership development, software implementation and the sourcing / hiring of the entire Leadership Team. During my first 5 months in the role, Nexonia received their first Private Equity funding from K1 Capital, after which there would be multiple rounds of additional funding and M&A activity.

As the HR Business Partner for Harlequin Enterprises, I was responsible for providing a superior level of Human Resources services to designated employee groups in order to support the achievement of Harlequin's objectives. My primary areas of responsibility included recruitment and selection, new hire orientation & induction, training and development, employee relations, management coaching, legislative adherence, as well as special projects.

While working for the Loblaw Privacy and Ethics Officer, I was seconded to work as Executive Assistant to the Chairman for George Weston Limited, the company that Loblaw financially reports into. As the assistant to the Chairman, I became an integral member of a high performance team managing personal relations, international travel and direct communication for W. Galen Weston.

When I joined Loblaw Companies Limited in 2003, I was hired as the Administrative Assistant to the Privacy and Ethics Officer for the company, who also had a dual role as the Senior Director for Human Resources. In my role, I was responsible for assisting the Privacy Officer in various projects and ongoing maintenance of Loblaw privacy initiatives, working particularly closely with the Loblaw Privacy Action Committee members as well as regional senior HR members to ensure company-wide compliance of the Loblaw Privacy Policy.
