Steven Defossez, MD, EMHL, CPE is a skilled and accomplished physician executive with over twenty years of experience in board-level leadership for the healthcare industry. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Tufts University, and a Master's degree in Executive Healthcare Leadership from Brown University. Dr. Defossez is known for his compassion, energy, and strategic thinking, as evidenced by his proven track record of delivering positive results in his field.
As the former Medical Staff President of Northeast Hospital Corporation, Dr. Defossez was instrumental in driving physician alignment, buy-in, commitment and accountability through shared core values, clear vision, and relationship development. He also spearheaded physician engagement during and after a merger with Lahey Clinic through active listening, responsiveness to physician concerns, deep sharing, and building trust through transparency and accessibility.
Dr. Defossez is a former Trustee at Northeast Hospital System and Northeast Hospital Corporation, a Founding Trustee at Lahey Health, and a former President of MRI Radiologists of the North Shore. He has also served as a Radiologist at Beverly Radiology Associates and was the Medical Director at Recent Clinical Positions. Currently, he is the Vice President of Clinical Integration at Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association and has been a public speaker and guest lecturer for the organization.
Dr. Defossez's superior interpersonal skills have helped him build and co-run North Shore Magnetic Imaging Center, a focused factory of excellence, and spearhead private practice physician alignment with the founding of Lahey Health.
