Patnaik earned a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from the Indian Institute of Information Technology and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.

As a Co-Founder and CTO of atSpoke, which was later acquired by Okta, and Co-Founder and Vice President, Product & Engineering of Appurify, acquired by Google, Patnaik is no stranger to entrepreneurship.
