Karan Kumar is an accomplished engineering manager who has worked across various organizations in the tech industry. He holds a Masters of Science in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from National Institute of Technology Karnataka. Kumar has held several technical leadership positions throughout his career, most recently serving as an Engineering Manager at Meta. Prior to joining Meta, Kumar has held several senior positions including Director Of Technical Services at Instart, Member Of Technical Staff at Cohesity, and Technical Lead at Instart Logic.

Before his management roles, Kumar also held engineering positions at Aster Data and Couchbase after completing his Graduate studies in the Parallel Data Lab at Carnegie Mellon University as a research assistant. Kumar has also been a teaching assistant at Carnegie Mellon University and held an Internship with Bell Labs Lucent Technologies.

Kumar is an expert in software engineering, performance engineering, data management, and information networking, with a comprehensive understanding of the latest technologies and how to leverage them to drive business success. He has delivered multiple talks and presentations on engineering and technology, including a well-received talk at Velocity 2016.
