Developed first and second radio downconversion systems for use in a new cosmological experiment that will map carbon monoxide density in the universe.  Works on fiber optic systems that connect telescopes in remote desert locations to computing centers.

Coordinated outside testing of Grandlite's LED lighting products, in order to conform with government regulations, industry standards/certifications, and customer requirements. Performed quality control inspections and oversight of assembly operations. Produced technical documents and marketing materials for internal and external use.  Engaged in research, design, and procurement to modify existing products, develop new products, and shift manufacturing locations. Worked with an international sales and engineering team to develop new LED lighting products and prepare them for launch. Prepared lighting layout plans in support of sales to help customers convert sites to LED lighting.  Conducted training sessions to educate sales personnel about lighting technology, product lines, and lighting industry concepts.

Engaged in design and procurement of equipment to be deployed to the sea floor in support of hydrothermal vent energy collection. Researched and identified materials and construction methods for use in high-pressure, high temperature, and corrosive environments. Designed prototypes using Solidworks software for stress, thermal, and buoyancy calculations. Worked with materials suppliers to develop cost estimates for prototype construction. Provided logistical support for the Regional Scale Nodes undersea cabled observatory, including shipping/receiving, warehousing, inventory, assembly, and component fabrication. Worked within a clean room to assemble pressure vessels for deep ocean deployment. Performed soldering, desoldering, and cable construction to prepare high-reliability electronics for deployment.

Ocean Engineering Apprentice / Field Engineer

Worked under Professor Boris Blinov, who is conducting research in the use of trapped ion qubits for quantum computing. Designed and built a high precision temperature controller for a resonant laser cavity, capable of stabilizing a thermal body to within fifteen mK. This included circuit design, circuit modelling, breadboarding, electronics and hardware assembly, control loop modelling, data collection and monitoring using Labview, and data analysis using MatLab.

Developed prototype concepts for development into consumer products.  Included industry research, hardware design, and component procurement.  Designed an optical accessory for the Apple iPad.

Worked with a team to design, build, and launch a solid fuel rocket containing an electronic meteorological data collection payload the NASA University Student Launch Initiative competition.  Was responsible for designing and constructing the payload hardware -- an integrated electromechanical system.

Publicly solicited signatures for ballot access, raised funds, developed and maintained a campaign website, strategically placed campaign signs throughout the city, appeared at candidate forums and gave speeches, and participated in a debate with the incumbent on public radio.  Obtained 4% of the vote in a 3-way race.

King County

Candidate for King County Council District Two

Designed and executed multi-camera video documentations, used digital editing and duplication equipment to create products for distribution, contacted and worked with diverse base personnel to develop news products for broadcast.  Trained in security skills, disaster response, and nuclear, biological, and chemical protection equipment.
