Frank Lee, PhD, is a seasoned professional in the fields of high-performance data and artificial intelligence (AI), with exceptional expertise in healthcare and life sciences, as well as financial services. He is currently the Global Healthcare Life Sciences Industry Leader and former Global TechSales Leader for High Performance Data, AI & Hybrid Cloud at IBM. Lee’s vast experience in healthcare covers some significant milestones that span from being involved in the first, largest, and latest genome projects, to championing HPC and AI in healthcare, life sciences, higher education, and research. Lee has designed infrastructure such as the world's largest supercomputers from Harvard to NASA, research computing, and petascale active archives. Lee’s contributions to the field of high-performance data and AI are evident in his extensive credentials, including the HPDA reference architecture for MD Anderson since 2011, the MetaOcean Initiative for the first-ever metadata catalog with notable partners such as Broad & MDA since 2013, and the DataOcean with Six-V, integrated use cases for leading industries (HCLS, FSS, and ADAS) since 2016. Currently, Lee is building DataOcean and MetaOcean capable SHIP, ENGINE, and MAP, practicing his innovative approaches and implementing Ocean-ready solutions, one cancer/genome/research center at a time.
