Bob Pierce

Bob Pierce was an American Christian missionary, evangelist, and humanitarian who lived from 1914 to 1978. Pierce co-founded World Vision, an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organization. Bob was born in 1914 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and passed away in 1978. He was the son of a Nazarene preacher, and his upbringing had a profound effect on his belief and compassion towards religion and humankind.

After World War II, Pierce visited China as a missionary and was moved by the suffering he saw. He returned home and started World Vision in 1950, aiming to make the world a better place and provide people with love and care where possible. Under Pierce's leadership, World Vision soon became an international organization providing emergency assistance, orphan care, health, and nutrition programs, and long-term community development projects to help the poor.
