Shane Mathew Worner is a PhD (Econ) qualified financial services professional with over 25 years of experience in investment banking, academia, asset management, and public policy formation both domestically and internationally. He is currently the Head of Department Market Intl & Data Analytics at the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), where he manages a dynamic analytical team of highly qualified economists and leads IOSCO engagement in various international policy initiatives.

Worner is an expert in market-based financing and FinTech issues, risk assessment, regulation, and standard setting of non-bank financial institutions and infrastructure. He has published extensively on all these areas and maintains strong personal relationships with contacts in the public and private sectors. Worner is a member of the Economics Society of Australia, the American Economic Association, and the World Economics Association.

Worner holds a PhD from the Australian National University and has also studied Grad.Dip, Economics from the Australian National University, B.Comm, Economics from the University of Wollongong, Certificate, Management Essentials from Harvard Business School Online, and Associate's degree, Accounting from TAFE NSW. Before joining IOSCO, Worner has worked as a Senior Economist at ASIC, Economist at The Centre for International Economics, Economist at Australian National University, Operations at ABN AMRO Bank N.V., Operations Supervisor at Citibank, Operations Analyst at UBS, and Back Office Employee at Banque Indosuez.
