Emily Garfield is an artist whose intricate maps of imaginary places delve into the origins of cities and the role maps play in our lives. After graduating with a degree in Visual Arts from Brown University and studying Japanese Language and Traditional Arts at Nanzan University, Emily honed her craft working as a Floral Design Assistant at Twig Boston, a Costume Shop Assistant at Brown University, and a Community Synapse Architect at SciArt Center & Magazine. She has also served as Executive Director at Somerville Open Studios and office Manager/Gallery Assistant at Mobilia Gallery. Emily's work, inspired by the visual language of maps, has been showcased in group and solo exhibitions nationwide.
