Michael Harmer

Michael Harmer is an accomplished Chairman and Senior Team Leader with more than 35 years of experience in industrial relations. He has a proven track record of providing legal and strategic advice to employers across a range of practice areas, including enterprise bargaining and change management initiatives. Michael began his career as a Research Officer to Presidential members of the Australian Conciliation and Arbitration Commission, where he undertook legal, economic and arbitral research and advice work. He then went on to work as a Solicitor for the New South Wales Department of Industrial Relations, an Industrial Officer for a private sector employer, and a Research Officer for one of Australia's largest unions. Today, Michael's practice places special emphasis on the preventive law approach in assisting clients in the informed management of a range of human rights, occupational health and safety, and employment issues. He is also recognised for his specialist advice concerning the employment of senior executives. Additionally, Michael is the President at Australian Institute of Employment Rights, and his firm is part of L&E Global, a rapidly growing international alliance of premier labour and employment law firms, representing employers in North America, Latin America, Europe and the Asia Pacific Region.
