Executive Vice President, Capital Markets at Housing Partnership Network

Provide executive oversight for all operational and administrative functions to a start-up, global private equity and philanthropic fund-of-funds platform, designed to generate multi-year, unrestricted funding for high-impact non-governmental organizations (NGOs).  Responsible for establishment of all corporate policies, including governance, data, human resources, technology, etc. Serve as primary liaison for third-party professional services including legal, fund management, and investor relations and for the investment and other committees that govern Greater Share.  Design and facilitate management of global fundraising (investment) pipeline, while ensuring effective stewardship of assets under management.

Led the development of solutions to address the complex capital needs of nonprofit affordable housing developers, community development financial institutions (CDFIs), housing counseling agencies and public housing authorities.  Responsible for raising debt, equity and philanthropic capital and overseeing the lending activities and strategic communications of a national network of the country's strongest nonprofits working to leverage affordable housing as a platform for wealth building and racial equity. During tenure, raised $80+ million in capital and $60+ million in public and private grants. Responsible for executive oversight of three lending and investment entities and a consolidated department budget of $11 million.

Executive Vice President, Capital Markets

Worked with Kresge program teams and external borrowers, financial intermediaries, banks and policy makers to identify areas where lack of capital is a barrier to opportunity and economic mobility.  Structured $60+ million in impact investments using debt, equity, guarantees and grants that leveraged $180+ million in additional capital. Developed and managed Kresge's first impact venture initiative to finance companies that have technology- or service-based solutions that could benefit the healthcare safety net.  Led strategic and tactical planning for the Practice and oversaw $2 million administrative and grant budgets.  Represented the Foundation at industry conferences and trainings.

Manage team of senior and junior loan officers to orginate $150-$200 million in new loans annually.  Facilitate strategic planning for Community Investment Group (lending team.)  Develop and improve processes to facilitate excellent customer service and new business development.    Contribute to efforts to expand presence in existing and new market segments.  Assist in loan structuring and identification of capital sources.  Manage strategic initiatives in health care and other key markets.

Facilitate organization-wide strategic planning process for mission-driven, national non-profit organization with particular attention to market sector plans in education, health care, long-term care, and affordable housing.  Develop and manage organization-wide innovation process, maintain balanced innovation portfolio, identify opportunities for new markets and lines of business, assume tactical leadership of priority innovations, including Green Charter School Initiative.  Plan and execute twice yearly company-wide offsite meetings.   Anchor video communications platform.

Director of Innovation and Strategy

Develop new health care and education-related business in the western U.S., emphasis on charter schools/CMOs and community clinics in California. Develop pipeline of new deals and annually issue $50+ million in loan proposals to new customers.  Partner with intermediary and trade organizations to identify potential lending opportunities. Represent organization and provide technical training at national, state, and regional conferences.  Serve as health care market lead including developing and executing strategic priorities and marketing and communications plan.   Manage $20 million existing loan portfolio.  Co-chair organization's diversity committee (2006-2008).

Business Development Officer/Vice-President

Perform qualitative and quantitative written analyses of loan proposals.  Analyze historical and projected financial statements, management capacity, organizational structure, credit risks, and debt capacity.  Manage $40 million loan portfolio.  Recruit and mentor new underwriters.

Loan Underwriter/Senior Underwriter

Worked with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce to increase the supply of affordable workforce housing in San Francisco and with an Oakland-based non-profit to strategically plan for and develop innovative financing partnerships for the creation of homeownership opportunities for its low-income family clients.

Researcher for HUD Third Party Economic Development Lending study.  Managed data collection including extensive loan file reviews and interviews with local administrators of CDBG and Section 108-funded economic development lending programs.  Supervised project budget, multiple subcontractors, and 30 field researchers.

Research Associate

Responsible for implementing elected Supervisor's priority policy agenda.  Staff to Chair of Economic Development, Transportation and Technology Committee.  Instrumental in developing and passing workforce development legislation.  Coordinated successful public hearings on Head Start and San Francisco schoolchildren's transportation needs.
