Rui Alves

Rui Alves is a dedicated and results-oriented business leader with a solid technical foundation in renewable energies and extensive managerial experience in overseeing global engineering teams.

With over 7 years of experience collaborating with leading energy companies, Rui has honed his expertise in renewable energy technologies, power system integration, smart distribution and transmission networks, power systems' modeling and analysis, and the application of artificial intelligence in power systems' operations.

Currently, Rui holds a key position at Vestas in the Power System Integration department, where he leads an international team of engineers focusing on developing top-notch renewable power plant electrical simulation models for power system studies.

Prior to his tenure at Vestas, Rui worked at R&D Nester and played a pivotal role in researching and developing innovative technological solutions for power systems. He has also held engineering roles at Efacec and INESC TEC.

Rui Alves holds a Masters' degree in Electrical and Computers Engineering specializing in Power Systems from the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University, graduating with the distinction of being in the top 10% of students.

His professional goals include expanding his technical knowledge in electrical power systems and renewable energy fields, enhancing his managerial and leadership skills, and leading high-performing engineering teams to deliver sustainable energy solutions for a better world.

In terms of education, Rui has studied at renowned institutions such as Chalmers University of Technology, Stanford University for Machine Learning, and the Florence School of Regulation for Regulation of the Power Sector.
