I started by putting together a Marketing Plan for the founder of this growing facilities management company to establish the state of the FM market with key issues and opportunities as well as competitor analysis.  I then identified target audiences, messaging, content and suitable channels as well as SEO strategy. The existing website was redeveloped and I put together a free download sustainability report as a lead magnet. I am now working on a strategy to drive more traffic to the website and raise Kelen's online presence. I also plan to recommend Kelen FM to my sustainability clients who require an energy efficiency assessment and recommendations.

I moved to Italy with my husband in 2017 to enjoy a simpler, more sustainable way of life.  We were lucky to find the house we live in, fully rebuilt using the original materials and to the highest eco standards.

We rent out the ground-floor of our home as a holiday apartment which has allowed me to become involved in sustainable tourism. It has been really insightful for me to learn about the renewables which power our home and apply my own personal sustainable living standards for our guests.  We have a Green Tourism Gold Award. We have recently joined Tourism Declares A Climate Emergency and I'm working on our own Climate Action Plan.

Wayaj is a global sustainable travel organisation based in the USA.  It connects hotels with earth friendly travelers who are actively looking for properties that are striving to offer their guests a more conscious and responsible travel experience. Wayaj also offers their hotel members support on their sustainability journey with an emphasis on offsetting and reducing carbon emissions.

I was taken on to develop sustainability marketing support for Wayaj hotel members to ensure that they communicate their sustainable proposition effectively and authentically.  I also worked with the management team to develop the brand identity and created much of the content, such as SEO-optimised blogs, as well as running a series of webinars aimed at either travelers or hoteliers.

Greenscents is a small British business who produce certified organic laundry and household products. In 2020 they became the only UK laundry and household brand to be certified palm oil free.   I started working with them in 2017 to put together a Marketing Strategy, which resulted in a new logo and strapline, new branding and packaging as well as a new e-commerce website.  I then worked as a freelancer overseeing the execution of the Marketing Plan, covering website management, content, email marketing, soical media, design, collaborations and PR working with internal staff and outside agencies.  The company saw significant growth whilst I was involved.  I really enjoyed working with Greenscents as their ethics and organic principles match perfectly with my own.

I was involved in the Global Education and Resources Team from 2014 - 2017 and in 2016/17 acted as Country Coordinator Liaison to cover maternity leave.

Fashion Revolution, a movement for positive change in the clothing industry, both socially and environmentally , is active in over 90 countries

It was my role to support and advise the Country Coordinators on the implementation of the Fashion Revolution campaign in their country, facilitating conversation and collaboration between the Country Coordinators themselves as well as connecting them with other stakeholders in their countries.  I was also the lynchpin between the Country Coordinators and the Global Coordination Team as well as researching and setting up new Country Coordinators in other countries.

I was also involved in the management of global data, email marketing, campaign collateral and fundraising.

Having worked in breast cancer prevention for over 10 years and been a long-term supporter of Breast Cancer UK, a charity focused on breast cancer prevention,  I was delighted to work with Lynn Ladbrook, the charity CEO, to set up their Ambassador Programme.  BCUK is the only UK charity focused on primary prevention, particularly concerned about certain hormone-disrupting chemicals used in our everyday products such as personal care and cosmetics, packaging and clothing.

During my three years with the charity, I set up the strategy for the programme and helped to build up a network of volunteer Ambassadors across the country who go out into their community to help people reduce their risk of this most-feared disease.  I developed the training programme and the presentation and resources to allow the Ambassadors to talk to people about why breast cancer develops, the risk factors and action they can take to prevent the preventable risk factors.  I also put together the communication strategy to attract new volunteers and organisations to host a breast cancer prevention talk.  Despite being a serious subject, the message always aimed to be positive and empowering unlike many other cancer campaigns which use fear as the motivator - there are simple steps that anyone can take in their daily life to reduce their risk of breast cancer and lead a healthier and happier life.

I also participated in setting up partnerships with campaigning organisations like the WI, who helped to promote the charity and our Ambasssador Programme to their members.

This was a very rewarding project for me as it allowed me to continue my previous work as a breast health educator.  The Ambassador Programme has now been taken in-house and I am extremely proud of how it has become a well-established part of the Breast Cancer UK education programme.

I went through a rigorous selection process to become an Approved Provider for Buckinghamshire County Council's New Futures programme, which offered business expertise to not-for-profits like social enterprises and charities.

I worked on marketing strategy with five organisations and received overall ratings of Excellent from three organisations and Good from two.

Unfortunately, the programme did not receive further funding.

I ran the inaugural Traveller Experience Awards working with the Marketing Directors of World Travel Market and Amadeus. This involved branding to reflect both organisations as well as marketing/communications and running the judging process and awards ceremony.  I took a particular interest in the Responsible Tourism category.

I joined Mike Howell in the launch of 4Sight Management in 2012, just after I had made the decision to set up as a freelance marketing consultant.  We worked with small business owners who wanted to take that exciting jump to the next level but knew they couldn't do it alone.  We offered business mentoring, financial advice and marketing expertise (which is where I came in).  We were determined that working with 4SM was enjoyable and effective - we wanted to be a cure to those sleepless nights worrying about your business!  I devised and oversaw all aspects of the marketing plan to ensure that a fully integrated approach was taken.  We always worked with the overall aim of our client's business in mind - to make more profit and to enjoy all the benefits of running a business.

I worked with one main client in my role within 4SM - an IT support company - and helped them formulate a marketing strategy, rebrand themselves and put in place the plans for a multi-channel marketing campaign.

I set up Best Think Pink as a social enterprise which empowered women through breast health education and early detection.  I offered breast health presentations in the workplace with the focus on breast cancer prevention through natural means. Since 2007 I have been telling women about the dangers of hormone disrupting chemicals in their beauty products and about the benefits of adopting an organic diet. I also offer advice on the lymphatic system, exercise and stress.

My focus has always been helping fewer women get breast cancer in the first place rather than on researching a cure.

I am an active supporter of Breast Cancer UK and worked as an Executive Board Member from 2008 to 2009.

I worked with my husband for over 20 years and we are still together!

On a serious note, it means that I understand all the highs and lows of running a business, the dynamics of working in a family business, the problems of finding skilled and reliable staff and all the other challenges faced by a small business.

On a practical level, I was responsible for all marketing campaigns (planning and implementation including email marketing, website management, event management, lead generation) as well as financial management.

This means that I can offer my clients expertise which is wider than just marketing - I know how to run a business!

We closed The Personal Plant Shopper in late 2017 in order to move to Italy and live a slower, more sustaintable life and we have become owners of a green holiday apartment in the beautiful area of Le Marche.

I was in charge of the marketing of this menswear company for big and tall men, comprising 34 retail outlets in the UK, Germany, Holland and Belgium.

I put together the marketing plans for the group and oversaw their implementation. This covered projects such as production of a brochure twice a year in 4 languages - I was responsible for employing the models, choosing locations in the UK and overseas, appointing a photographer and running the whole shoot. I also ran national and local advertising and PR campaigns in all countries. I was lucky to work with Linford Christie and Bill Beaumont, with whom we had sponsorship deals. We had a large customer database which I managed and handled mailings.

I was also part of the Senior Management Team who handled the day-to-day running of the business. We met regularly to ensure that all departments had their say in the strategy of the company.

I was responsible for a department of marketing staff and I was personally involved in the company's menswear event.

When Clarion was called Philbeach Events, I worked on two womenswear events, one mainstream called The London Pret and The British Designer Show, which was part of London Fashion Week.

I was responsible for all the administration of the event as well as liaison with all the contractors.  I even helped John Galliano with the lighting on his stand - he was an unknown then!  And Monty Don was a jewellery designer with not a spade in sight!
