Benjamin Alarie

Benjamin Alarie is a tax law professor at the University of Toronto and the co-founder and CEO of Blue J, a tax technology company. His expertise lies in applying artificial intelligence to tax law.

Through his work, Benjamin aims to revolutionize tax research and analysis by leveraging AI tools to streamline processes, enhance understanding of complex issues, and redefine approaches to tax problems.

At Blue J, he spearheaded the development of Ask Blue J, an AI-powered platform for tax research and analysis, which is utilized by tax experts across North America.

Benjamin Alarie is actively engaged in researching the implications of integrating AI in tax practice, focusing on how roles in the profession will evolve, the new skills that will be required, and the ethical considerations that arise.

His educational background includes LL.M. in Law from Yale Law School, MA in Economics from the University of Toronto, and Juris Doctor in Law from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.

Previously, Benjamin has been associated with organizations like YPO and served as the Osler Chair in Business Law at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He has also worked as a Clerk to the Honourable Madam Justice Louise Arbour at the Supreme Court of Canada.
