Kate GermanoWashington, District of Columbia, United States, United States
NeuroLeadership Institute Certified Results Trained Coach and ICF Certified Leadership Coach Dedicated to living the Marine Corps maxim, “Know yourself and seek self-improvement,” I am a retired military officer with broad experience as a coach, facilitator, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategist. After a tumultuous experience leading the only all female unit in the entire Department of Defense, some spectacular results, and a very public firing, I left the military and embarked on a journey of self-reflection. My thirst to improve my own leadership and better serve others led me back to school, where I attained certifications from Georgetown University in Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership and Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Management, and leadership coaching certifications through Fielding Graduate University. My services: - Leadership coaching - Team coaching and action planning - Change leadership consulting - Culture and diversity, equity, and inclusion assessments, training and facilitation and planning - Public speaking My exploration of my own emotional intelligence helped me understand that true leadership requires vulnerability, empathy, and an appreciation for the perspectives of people from all different walks of life. Believing you can always teach an old dog new tricks, as a coach and consultant, I use my own experiences as powerful tools to help others be more insightful, accountable, and able to artfully navigate change. I am the author of Fight Like A Girl: The Truth Behind How Female Marines Are Trained, co-written by Kelly Kennedy (2018, Prometheus), and have been a featured speaker on leadership and gender issues at Amazon, Merck, Kohler, PayPal, the City of York, Pennsylvania, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the College at Brockport, and the University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale, among other organizations. Most recently, Tammy Stovall at the FDIC wrote, "Kate Germano delivers! The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation had the pleasure of having Kate as a guest speaker for our annual Veterans Day observance. Kate’s ability to connect, and her passion for Veterans, and diversity and inclusion was inspiring. Kate’s presentation “Winning Hearts and Minds: Why Empathy and Self-Awareness Matter” was carefully crafted and kept the audience engaged. We have heard nothing but rave reviews. So many were touched by her story and her success. In a word, phenomenal!!"
