After a tumultuous experience leading the only all female unit in the entire Department of Defense, some spectacular results, and a very public firing, I left the military and embarked on a journey of self-reflection. My thirst to improve my own leadership and better serve others led me back to school, where I attained certifications from Georgetown University in Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership and Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Management, and leadership coaching certifications through Fielding Graduate University. I am the author of Fight Like A Girl: The Truth Behind How Female Marines Are Trained, co-written by Kelly Kennedy (2018, Prometheus), and have been a featured speaker on leadership and gender issues at Amazon, Merck, Kohler, PayPal, the City of York, Pennsylvania, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the College at Brockport, and the University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale, among other organizations.
