Alan Strack, a multimedia artist hailing from Brooklyn, New York, is known for his abstract and unique lightbox installations that capture the cultural significance and universal nostalgia of cinema. His installations are made up of carefully curated strips of 35mm film illuminated to capture different scenes of the human experience.

Strack's family has roots in the movie industry, and he pays homage to this background by sourcing the films he uses in his installations from his grandparents' 3000-reel archive of movie trailers and features. This archive was rescued and stored by Strack for over 20 years after his grandparents' movie theater in Oneonta, New York closed in the late 90s. Now, these ancient film reels find new life as art installations.

Strack's journey as a designer and artist has been deeply influenced by the visual psychology of cinema. He spent his early life moving frequently with his family, including a stint in Tokyo, but the movie theater owned by his grandparents was always a source of comfort and homecoming. Strack studied graphic design and photography at Northeastern University in Boston, and later spent 13 years as an art director for Nike, working on clothing collections for iconic athletes such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

In 2018, Strack relocated to Brooklyn to focus on creating Light-Reel installations full-time, which have been featured in publications such as New York Cottages and Gardens, NY Mag, and Galerie Magazine.
