Ed is part of Golder Mining's Leadership Team and has P&L accountability for the Mining Environment Division in EMEA APAC.  He is personally responsible for the development of the Mining Environment strategy, annual business plans and budgets for 100 staff located in Indonesia, Australia, Africa (South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, DRC and Ghana), UK and Iberia.  He has successfully recruited and developed staff in alignment with the strategy to grow the business year on year.Ed is also responsible for the management of client programs for key regional clients.In addition to line responsibility, Ed is a Partner at Golder and a Principal EHS Specialist.  He is a CEnvP with over 25 years’ experience in mining EHS focused on underground and open cut gold, copper, nickel, rare earths, graphite and uranium.  Ed is a specialist is the assessment of mining operations for governance, regulatory and transactional purposes.  He has led hundreds of due diligences, EHS system improvement and compliance audits on mining companies and mining support industries throughout Australia, Southeast Asia, Africa, North and South America.  The focus of the audit and due diligence work includes environment, health and safety, mine closure, emergency response, water management, training, maintenance, and community aspects.  Ed is also a Lead Auditor and Certified Technical Specialist (mine, transport and production) for the International Cyanide Management Code and has conducted audits globally for 13 years.  He is also a Certified Environmental Professional and Certified Lead Health, Safety and Environmental Auditor. As a Principal EHS Consultant, Ed specialises in:- Project Director, Project Management and study coordination roles for multidisciplinary studies- Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Permitting - Auditing and Due Diligence - Environmental System Development and Implementation- Decommissioning and Closure- Strategic Environmental Advice.

Ed had responsibility for the management of the WA Environment Group and development of mining business within PNG.  During this period, Ed built and established a profitable business in a challenging environment.  As Principal EHS Consultant, Ed has managed and led complex ESIA projects, established internationally recognized auditing and due diligence services for the International Cyanide Code, mergers and acquisitions and IFC assessments.  He is a specialist in environmental management in mining, chemical manufacturing, and supply chains.  Ed has experience with managing strategic and operational environmental issues through all stages of a project life cycle. Ed is an EIANZ Certified Environmental Practitioner, registered by Exemplar Global as a Certified Lead Environmental Auditor and Lead Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Auditor.  Ed has also been approved by the International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) as a Lead Auditor and Technical Expert Auditor for transport operations, chemical facilities and gold mining operations.

Ed was part of the Leadership Team responsible for supporting mining approvals for new project in east Africa and establishing management system frameworks on construction and operational sites to identify and manage risk and maintain compliance.  He built and trained local teams to deliver environmental outcomes for the operations.  Regulator, community consultation and statutory reporting were critical elements of the role.  Financial management, including budgeting were an important element.In the role, Ed also assumed safety and emergency response responsibilities.

Ed facilitated environmental approvals for the Murrin Murrin Nickel and Cobalt Project in Western Australia and its satellite operations.  Ed designed, budgeted and implemented environmental systems for the construction and operation of facility and oversaw the contractor activities.  Regulator and Aboriginal consultation, training and statutory reporting were critical elements of the role.In the role, Ed also assumed safety, emergency response and camp administration responsibilities

Ed managed the environmental programs for a brownfields gold mining operation.  This included the development, budgeting and implementation of decommissioning and rehabilitation plans for 20 mining operations, tailings facilities and several processing facilities.

Responsible for the communication and implementation of the new Environmental Protection Act across a diverse range of industries in south-east Queensland.  Planning, licensing, compliance and enforcement were critical elements of the role.
